Finally! Is this a step forward for "Global Britain"

11/09/2019

Finally some good news from the UK Government (amidst all of the chaos surrounding parliament and Brexit).

Visas for international students will be relaxed once more. The proposal would allow students to remain a further two years following completion of their studies. The purpose of this 2 year visa is that it would allow students the opportunity to find work. Studies have shown that international students have a positive economic impact for the UK. I for one am glad to see this aspect of the hostile environment retracted.

Some of you may say that this is a great step forward. Others may comment that it is merely a retreat to the old Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) visa from several years ago. Regardless of whether it is a retreat to the glory days or a step forward, at least it is progress.

International students will be allowed to stay in the UK for two years after graduation to find a job, under new proposals announced by the Home Office. The move reverses a decision made in 2012 by then-Home Secretary Theresa May that forced overseas students to leave four months after finishing a degree.
