8:30am - I usually get into the office about an hour early so I can catch up on my emails and write my to-do list in peace whilst it is nice and quiet.
9:00 am - I have a really lovely "buddy" in my Family seat and we've got into a routine of getting a morning coffee together whenever we're both in the office.
9:15am – An early morning Teams call with an overseas law firm to start off the day. They are giving us advice regarding our client's jurisdiction battle and whether the divorce should be dealt with by the English courts or not. As a trainee it is often my job to take a note of important calls and circulate it to the FEs along with any action points that came up during the call.
11:00am – I spent the rest of the morning drafting instructions to counsel and pulling together the bundle of enclosures ahead of a client's upcoming pFDR (private Financial Dispute Resolution Appointment).
12:30pm – Lunch time! My team and I are making the most of the free lunch the firm provides and heading downstairs for lunch.
1:30pm – My first job after lunch is collating property particulars for a client – one of my favourite tasks in Family because I love browsing Rightmove! When putting forward a financial proposal we often accompany it with examples of properties that our client, or the other party, could purchase/rent.
3:00pm – A quick trip to the vending machine on the 6th floor with some of my fellow trainees to stock up on chocolate and caffeine for the afternoon!
3:15pm – I finished my day by reviewing a client's ex-husband's financial disclosure. This involves going through the last 12 months of his bank statements and seeing if there are any transactions we should be flagging – e.g. out of the ordinary big spends at designer stores!
