One in four

10/10/2016

Statistics say that around one if four to one in five of us will suffer some form of mental health issue each year.  That is an epidemic of biblical proportions.

Howard Kennedy is this year supporting MQ Mental Health, a charity dedicated to researching the causes of mental illness and hopefully from there finding more effective treatments.  Our involvement with MQ has educated us in understanding how suddenly and how sharply mental health problems can arise.

Mental illness is still taboo.  We don't talk about it.  It is at times and in some environments perceived and treated as a sign of weakness.  It isn't.  As this article shows it can strike anyone at any time.

We may not realise it but every one of us knows someone who has experienced significant mental health issues.

And if you think you don't, just how certain can you actually be that it isn't me?

The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day is ‘psychological and mental health first aid for all’. If all workplaces provided Mental Health First Aid, it would create safer, healthier and more productive environments for everyone.
