8:11am – Board the c2c train from the outer reaches of Essex's southern coastline and make a beeline for a seat. Refrain from cheering on securing a window seat, crack open the coffee and settle down to read for the 55-minute journey. This is one of the benefits of living outside the city – having time to catch up on my reading. Today I'm reading 'Spycraft', which is this month's HK History Book Club read.
9:30am – Today is our monthly know-how meeting and I'm giving a legal update on the latest decision in an employment tribunal claim. These meetings are a great way for the team to keep up-to-date on the latest legislation and case law, whilst also promoting discussion on various topics and identifying practical tips for the team.
10:30am – Time for a coffee and to start drafting a settlement agreement.
1:00pm – Lunch…although today is one of the days where we have a firm lunch, I've decided to pop out into the sun and head down to the river for a walk and some fresh air.
2:00pm - We have weekly Employment and Immigration team meetings where we discuss business development, ideas and workloads.
3:00pm – I head down to the 6th floor for a cheeky afternoon coffee and have a quick chat to colleagues at the coffee machine (50p goes to the firm's charity Making the Leap, so the more I drink, the more I help to raise – what better way to feel good about my coffee addiction!)
3:15pm – Back to my desk, where I spend the rest of the afternoon putting together bundles for an in-person employment tribunal trial at the Watford Employment Tribunal. I'm very excited to attend, support the client and work with our fantastic Counsel (plus I've never visited Watford before!)
6:00pm – Bundles are completed and strapped into a suitcase, ready for the three-day trial. I head off to get the train and an early night before I start my journey to Watford first thing in the morning.
