Court costs 'crippling' UK litigation

A recent survey conducted by the London Solicitors Litigation Association and the New Law Journal confirms that the huge hike in court fees since 2015 is dissuading potential litigants from commencing proceedings and may have "a seriously detrimental effect" on London's position as a leading centre for international dispute resolution.

Nearly 90 per cent of respondents to a poll of dispute specialists said the twin factors of rising, government-imposed court fees and increasing disclosure costs would dissuade potential litigants.
