What rights do employers have over a misleading CV?

Exaggeration of experience and qualifications in job applications are apparently common.  A thorough verification process prior to hiring is the best course for employers, particularly where the experience/qualification is a determining factor in the appointment.  

Employers discovering the falsification later will need to consider whether and to what extent trust has been undermined and what impact the discovery has on the ability of the individual to undertake the role.
