The UK and the Immigration Skills Charge ('ISC')

As well as adversely affecting the public sector (i.e. universities, schools and hospitals) it would seem that other highly skilled sectors could be affected, such as the tech sector or financial services. After HSBC only just recently announced that they would be keeping their head office in London, it would be interesting to see whether other international businesses will be as quick to confirm the position with the ISC looming in the distance.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), a trade association of Indian IT industry body, expressed concern over the recommendations, particularly the move to introduce ISC. It estimated that the Indian IT companies may have to shell out $400 million every year.
